The "It" Technology for the "It" City
How the EDAR Express Screen Program Works
Motorists will have the opportunity to have their vehicle emissions tested as they drive down the road! This will eliminate the need for all vehicles to have to be tested at brick and mortar stations, but instead a certain percentage of the population will be able to opt-in to use Express Screen.
HEAT is installing Emissions Detection and Reporting (EDAR) devices in carefully predetermined locations throughout the Nashville area encompassing a broad spectrum of geographic and socioeconomic areas in order to fairly allow anyone in the Metro Nashville area to have the ability to participate in this program.
Vehicle owners will conveniently be able to access a list of EDAR locations via the Express Screen TN - EDAR Nashville website to identify the most convenient location and to then have the ability to then drive underneath the unit on their normal routine.
When the motorist’s vehicle has been detected by EDAR as clean (passing) within a certain time period prior to their registrations expiring, the vehicle owner will be notified that their vehicle is clean and they do not have to have a traditional smog test performed that year.
Once a motorist receives their notification, they may then renew their registrations online; opting to participate in the program.
This Express Screen program will greatly increase motorist convenience, while at the same time giving Nashville a hassle-free way to stay in compliance with EPA air quality requirements.
