Engineering Technician

Hager Environmental & Atmospheric Technologies (HEAT) is an exciting and fast paced high-tech environmental company that is seeking an Engineering Technician that will assume a high level of responsibility supporting and/or leading our field teams in the on-road deployment of our one-of-a-kind emissions testing units. Successful Engineering Technicians are fast learners, self-motivated and independent workers. They have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. Engineering Technicians must have a diverse background and be skilled in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. Must not have any physical limitations and be able to lift at least 50lbs.

 

Our preferred candidate should have 5-7 years of real-world experience with a versatile, all-encompassing knowledge of troubleshooting, R&D, mechanics, optics, electrical and mechanical components, have an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to travel both domestically and internationally (40-50%).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Responsibilities include set-up, break down, and troubleshooting of emissions testing equipment. Skill-level requirements vary from basic troubleshooting to equipment installation. Domestic and international travel required- about 40-50% of the time.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. and stand for continuous periods of time

  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and work irregular hours on occasion

  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment

  • Computer and networking skills

  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be computer literate

  • Strong professional communication skills

  • 2-year technical degree or 5 years of work experience in the engineering field

  • Ability & willingness to work safely & carefully (Specialized training or certifications a plus)

  • Comply with company safety guidelines and procedures

  • Must be punctual and maintain a positive attitude

  • Strong organizational skills and project management/tracking

  • Documentation skills

  • Management experience a plus

  • Have the ability to think outside the box

  • Understanding of cost control procedures and staying within a budget

  • Must be an energetic and driven individual willing to get the job done

  • Jack-of-all-trades and willing to wear many hats

  • Must have a clean background and driving record

  • Ability to pull a trailer (i.e. boat or u-haul trailer) or have a willingness to learn the skill

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to several weeks at a time

 

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Machining

  • Knowledge of Vehicles and/or Vehicle Emissions Systems

  • Solidworks

  • Strong Electrical and/or Mechanical Skillset

  • Knowledge of Optics, Lasers, and/or have a Scientific Background
