Meet the Inventor
Dr. J. Stewart Hager brings technological innovation into the currently stagnant emissions industry with his ingenuity and extensive experience of 25 years. His entrepreneurial spirit along with his focus and determination has enabled him to significantly impact the world of emissions today.
J. Stewart Hager, Chief Executive Officer and inventor, received his PhD in Molecular Physics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Dr. Hager has many achievements in high-resolution infrared spectroscopy, molecular vibrational-rotational theory, atmospheric remote sensing, Raman spectroscopy, and computer modeling of atmospheric spectra, instrument design and enhancement. He is, also, a published author with articles in major scientific journals.
Before starting Hager Environmental, Dr. Hager worked as a consultant along with a select group of four other physicists; three of whom were NASA, Langley scientists on the Active Sensing of CO2 Emissions over Nights, Days and Season (ASCENDS) satellite mission for NASA, Langley.
Dr. Hager’s goal from the beginning has been to use his knowledge of molecular physics to start a remote sensing company. As such, Dr. Hager started Hager Environmental and Atmospheric Technologies (HEAT), located in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2009. The current primary focus is on using similar principles of the ASCENDS satellite mission and applying it to vehicle exhaust remote sensing. In connection with his mission, Dr. Hager has developed a full production version of a vehicle exhaust remote sensing device, called EDAR (Emissions Detection and Reporting), and has successfully demonstrated and deployed this system in several commercial applications worldwide.
