"World's leading cause of death according to WHO (World Health Organization), local air pollution is a major topic facing the City of Paris. The main causes of air pollution in the capital are too high concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (no2) and fine particles (pm), partly due to car traffic.
According to airparif, more than 1.3 million people in Paris are exposed to levels of pollutants that exceed European standards, and the city of paris has the highest levels of no2 and fine particles.
Faced with this health emergency, and in order to improve the quality of life of Parisians, the Mayor of Paris is committed to fighting against local air pollution.
To better understand and analyze the problem, it is hosting a campaign of measurements of pollutant emissions from motorized vehicles in real conditions, as part of the "air'volution" project, in partnership with ICCT (International Council on Clean Transportation).
The company HEAT (Hager Environmental & Atmospheric Technologies) in charge of the measurements deploys equipment consisting of sensors and a camera, intended to collect the following data:
Vehicle speed and acceleration
Pollutant concentrations (no2, co2, pm, hc)
Meteorological data
License plate number
In accordance with the partnership agreement signed with the city of Paris, the operator HEAT undertakes to guarantee the confidentiality of the personal data processed. Personal data collected is immediately anonymised and deleted after processing.
